I\'ve been meaning to do this meme for a while, but I just haven\'t had the time! But, with my school's last Preview Day this past Friday, I decided "fuck it, I'm gonna redo my painting of Sam." And I have! The "Before" pic I painted when I was fifteen in grade 11 art; this was also the FIRST time I'd picked up a paintbrush to paint something semi complicated since I was... I think 13(and I didn't do portraiture). I NEVER liked paint when I was young because I couldn't control it. And, because also at that time I was OBSESSED with Supernatural, I had to paint Sam(I painted Dean too!). I was pretty pleased with this when I was 15... Now, of course, I like to laugh at it nostalgically. I mean, it's fun to see how far I've come, but holy COW is it bad. The "After" pic, as I mentioned earlier, was painted this past Friday. It was... weird to go back to painting Sam after SO many years of not painting him. I tried to make sure it was painted on the same size of board as the original was(or, the paper that the first Sam was painted on). I also used oils because I do NOT like acrylic now. I can still see a lot of flaws in this one(eyes a smidge too big, nose a might too long), but I was very tired when I drew this out. And painting it was a bit of a challenge because I was answering questions at the same time. But, as a whole, I think it was a success I MAY go back to it a little tomorrow... Gotta add Sam's mole But he's still a handsome son of a gun after all these years!
Before Sam Time: 5-6 hours(I remember) Painted in Delta Acrylic Paper of some sort
After Sam Time: 4 hours Painted in Windsor Newton Oils Canvas board 9x12
